Due to the political unrest in Honduras our mission trip was postponed. We were supposed to leave on the 17th and fly into the capital, Tegucigalpa, but since they won’t let Zelaya land I doubt they’ll be interested in me touching down either.
I’m a little torn at the moment on how I feel about the whole situation. I’ve heard the arguements from both sides and have even read letters from people in Honduras. On one hand it seems that the majority of Hondurans feel that Zelaya obtained his presidency underhandedly and that he was trying to change the constitution to prolong his stay in office. On the other hand, he was democratically elected and would finish his term in January. Is there not an impeachment process rather than ousting him at gunpoint?
In any case, please pray for the people of Honduras and hope that they are able to resolve this quickly and without further harm to those who need help the most.
Keep the Iranian people and the worlds leaders in your thoughts as well as they deal with the turmoil that is world politics.
